Thailand, Kanchanaburi - X2 River Kwai Resort Review

Located 15 minutes away from the city, X2 River Kwai offer the most luxurious stay in Kanchanaburi. Besides, the resort faces Kwai Noi River which offers magnificent view and peace. Part of our 4D3N trip to Bangkok, we decided to spend a night in Kanchanaburi to unwind and relax.

Room – Xfloat Luxe Cabin with Kayak

The Xfloat Lux Cabin came with a private rooftop sundeck with amazing panoramic front view. Honestly, I love everything about the room! The edgy and minimalistic designed room has everything we need. Plus the toilet is huge and comes with gorgeous bath tub and rain shower. After spending a day in Kanchanaburi city, this is the perfect place for us to recharge. With the sun set and shine on Kwai Noi River, we end the day kayaking around the resort. #superawesome

Tip: Definitely choose Xfloat over others because PoolXide Cabin Suite and PoolXCabin are located right in front of the pool and might be a little noisy when guest decide to take a dip in the morning.

Facilities

Other than uniquely designed cabin that had won me over, the infinity pool was part of the reason why I choose to stay here. I love infinity pool with view. They are gorgeous! The one at X2 River Kwai did not disappoint me. As we visited during off-peak season, we had the entire pool to ourselves. 

Location

With its breathtaking location, X2 Kwai Resort is 20 minutes drive away from the bus station. Although very inaccessible, this place offers peace and tranquility. Resort provides one way transport service to Kanchanaburi Station for 600b. 

Restaurant

Included in our package, we had High Tea, Dinner and Breakfast in The Bridge Bar & Bistro. The rustic style restaurant makes it a nice place to chill. The restaurant offers both thai and western cuisine for resort guest to choose from.

HighTea Set

A 2 piece mini-waffle + Tea/coffee was served as high tea package included in our stay. Although included in our package, it was quite a let down. I was expecting more from the High Tea set for 2.

Dinner Set 

Dinner set came with Appetizers, Mains and Dessert. H had the Satay and it was pretty good. However the Asparagus with pork i had was a disappointment. The Asparagus was slightly under cook and had a raw taste. 

H ordered curry as his main and thought it was medicore. We both agree that the pork chop I had ordered is definitely a better option as there are better Curry in Bangkok. The porkchop is perfectly grilled - tender yet juicy.

Apple Crumble and Mango Sticky Rice. Both are so good and i wouldn't mind having a second serving. Served with granola, the warm apple crumble is crunchy and goes really well with the ice cream! As for the mango sticky rice, probably one of the best mango sticky rice i ever had. They used purple glutinous rice! 

Breakfast Set 

H order the The Khai Ka Ta set (Fried Egg top with northern thai sausage and Mushroom) set and regretted. Clearly, he didn't like the spice from Nothern-thai. I had the Crispy Bacon Corn Hash as i was won over by the hashbrown. It was pretty good but i feel that they can be more generous with the bread serving. 

Nonetheless, breakfast set came with free flow of Sparkling Wine and Cereal. How can anyone not love Sparkling Wine Cereal? They are my all-time favorite and comfort food.

In Conclusion, H & i love the stay there! The stunning view and experience! We even had late check out and gave the day trip to erawan waterfall a missed.  We couldn't find fault with the resort except for that it cost 3 time more than a resort in Kanchanaburi. Perhaps, we might be back one day?
