On our first night in
Japan, we stayed at Kyukaruizawa Kikyo, Curio Collection by Hilton in
Karuizawa. Located 15 minutes of walk away from Old Karuizawa street, making
the hotel accessible to the attraction yet enjoys peace and tranquillity in the
area.

When we arrived, the exterior of the hotel looks dated to me. Thus, I wasn’t expecting much. However, once I enter the lobby, I fell in love with the design immediately. It was modern and cosy! The kind of place that allows you to chill with a book and do nothing else.
Once we were in, the
hotel staff greeted us and help with the check-in. Japanese service truly lived
up to its name! It was fuss-free and the hotel staff gave us a tour around the
hotel. Also, we were stoked to find out that we were being upgraded from
premium room to twin courtyard suite because of HH gold status! On a side note,
they even have pet-friendly room!

The 56 sqm room is
huge and is group into 3 section - living room, bed and bathroom. The living
room comes with a long sofa. There is a Nespresso coffee machine as well as a complimentary mini-bar! Small little gesture goes a long way!
Separated by a
partitioned, the bedroom is huge! With 2 super single placed beside in the room,
it can definitely fit up to 4 people without adding the rollaway bed! The mattress is firm and liner is very comfortable too. After a long day of the drive, we slept
like a baby!
The toilet is divided
into a wet and dry area. It is very spacious but sadly, we didn’t use the bathtub
in the room because we visited the Onsen during our time there. Toiletries are
well stocked and they provide all the necessities you need for a good stay.
They even provide buddhi oil for you to relax after your Onsen!
Breakfast is amazing!
To be honest, I’m not a fan of hotel breakfast as compare to H who enjoys
making his own DIY big breakfast. I always go for the usual breakfast item such
as Cereal, Cheese and bread. However, the breakfast at Kyukaruizawa Kikyo,
Curio Collection by Hilton is so good, I managed to go for a few rounds. It’s
quality over quantity! You can even request for fruits to be cut and send to
your table.

Although the Onsen
facility is great, the experience isn’t. There is no outdoor onsen in the
facility. Plus, this place is very popular among tourist, making it annoying
when they don’t follow Japanese etiquettes. Talking loudly as if they own this
place truly spoils the experience there.
In
Conclusion
Even though the room
is dated, we love the overall experience. From quality food to excellent
service, our stay at Kyukaruizawa Kikyo, Curio Collection by Hilton is a very
memorable one.
