Situated
near to the coast, Sungai Rengit is a popular seafood haven for the locals
and Singaporean. During our trip to Desaru, we took a 30 minutes' drive
from Desaru Coast to Sungai Rengit to try it for ourselves. Among all the
restaurants, we decided to visit Super Lobster because of its high review and
we were not surprised to find many Singaporean there.
Due to the overwhelming crowd, the
service wasslow. Getting the attention of the staff is a little tough. Plus, we
waited for almost an hour for our dish to be served. Thankfully, the service of
the staff compensated for it. They were very patient and answer our questions
while taking our order. On top of that, we like how we can order the food in
small size, which is great for diners like us.
Famous for its huge and juicy lobster, we ordered one to try and it is definitely the highlight of the night. Generally, the lobster
size starts from 700g and is priced from 260RM/100g. We requested for the smallest size available and it was
already 800g. With a wide variety of cooking style to choose from, we ordered the Lobster in Superior Broth上汤龙虾. Personally, I think it is better to have it in its original sauce so that you
can taste the freshness of the lobster. If you order it with salted egg, the
taste may be too strong for this delicacy.
On top of that, we ordered a couple
of dishes to try. We did not order crab because of its poor review. Instead, we ordered the crab stew soup (20RM/ 1 pax portion) to try. Surprisingly, the stew is good! The soup is very flavourful and you could taste the crab as well as Shao xing in the soup. Plus, you can find pieces of crab meat in the soup.
The Mixed Vege with nut (Lotus root, Celery, broccoli, Black Fungus) is very well prepared. Stir fry vegetables with shrimp paste, the wok-hei made the vegetables very addictive. Despite being very full, we managed to finish the whole plate.

On the other hand, the salted egg
squid is a letdown. Personally, I prefer salted egg sauce to not be overly
gooey and I couldn’t taste the squid. Also, the ee noodle and Black pepper chicken was mediocre.
After dinner, we drove back to Anantara Desaru Coast and chill. Overall, the food served in super lobster is decent. Unfortunately, most of the dishes are accustomed more towards people with saltier taste bud. Thus, if you prefer something less salty, do highlight it to the staff taking your order. I will be back if I’m craving for Lobster. & the next time, I’m going jio more people along so that I get to try other dishes.
