Pullman Singapore Orchard Review - Superior Room

With news of Pullman Hotel rebranding the former hotel Grand Park Orchard in 2021, it has finally opened its door to guests in 2023. Do note that Pullman Singapore Orchard is different from Pullman Singapore which is located at Hillstreet.

Pullman Singapore Orchard is the newest hotel brand joining the major hotel chain in the heart of the orchard. The 11-story high hotel has 326 rooms and 9 types of rooms & suites available for guests to choose from.

Upon arriving, one will be greeted by bespoke lighting features made up of 700 LED lights, creating an illuminating night sky and dramatic effect.  The hotel architect - EDG Design (ID) has adapted a bold and playful design reflecting the luxury fashion brand concept into the hotel.

Location

Getting around the orchard is very convenient. With the hotel located between somerset station and orchard station, one will be spoiled with shopping malls and restaurant choices.

Superior Room

Upon booking confirmation, we received an email to download an app. The app can be used as a lock key to enter your room. We book a classic room and was upgraded to superior upon check-in.

The 28 sqm room comes with a king-size bed and shower without a bathtub. If you are looking for one with a bathtub, do book the premier room onward. The hotel has also adopted a more sustainable and Eco-friendly travel experience for the guest. The soap dispenser was used as one of the Eco-friendly initiatives. The toothbrush is available upon request.

Ironically, the temperature in our room can’t be adjusted to 26 degrees, and seems to be a centralized air-conditioner. Despite all things new, the motion sensor could not detect our presence in the room and the lights went out on their own.

On top of that, the bathroom still has defects. With green stains on the Toto toilet bowl and a yellow stain at the handle of shower head, I am not sure what will happen a few years down the road. To add on, the shower heater temperature was inconsistent and H was scalded during the shower.

Breakfast

We had our breakfast in the meeting room next to Atelier Lounge as Restaurant Eden was not operating. The temporary Ala-Cart Breakfast menu was given to us to choose from. Food was mediocre and nothing to shout about and one can request multiple servings.

Restaurants & Bar

Atelier Lounge

The lounge has a very chic and modern design. We spend our afternoon at the atelier lounge by redeeming the 2 complimentary welcome drinks. One can choose from a list of coffee or 2 choices of mocktails. We went for the lateral and were not impressed. Nonetheless, the staff was helpful and friendly.

Hours of Operation:
Opens daily from 6.30am – 11.00pm

Eden Restaurant

The stunning beautiful glass house is gorgeous, especially during the day when the light shines upon the roof. Unfortunately, the restaurant is not open while we were there.

Facilities

Swimming Pool/ P.S.O Beach Club

Despite being named a beach club, I did not see any sand or outdoor bar that resembled a beach club. Nonetheless, the gorgeous pool in the heart of Orchard has stylish cabanas and a sun bed for one to chill and relax. Perfect for one to enjoy a quick dip after a long day of shopping at Orchard Road.

Fitness Gym

The small but well-equipped gym is open 24/7 allowing guests to use it. Unfortunately, it was not open while we were there.

Overall, the hotel is great for people who love to hang out around Orchard. It is great for people who shop and enjoy the convenience of cafes and restaurants at their doorstep.

The best time to stay in orchard road is during December when Christmas decorations light up the entire street. Plus, the brand-new hotel definitely got its advantage over the older kid in the street. It is quieter compared to other hotels as it is nearer to the residential properties in Orchard.

On the other hand, it does not have direct access to MRT station compared to hotels such as Jen Singapore Orchard Gateway by Shangri-La, Marriott Tang Plaza and etc.

The furnishing is modern but seems to lack of quality despite being a 5 Star Hotel. Park Royal brand itself as an eco-friendly hotel and provides an in-room water filter whereas Pullman Singapore provides a glass bottle of water and expect the guest to drink the water from the faulty tap (inconsistent water temperature). To be honest, there is a fine line between eco-friendly and budget-friendly.
