Over the weekend, I left H in Singapore and went for a short getaway to Johor Bahru with my friends. It has been a while since we visited JB together. I remember the last one we did visit JB together was 3 years ago?

Location
Just a few minutes of walk from the JB custom and opposite of Komtar Mall, the location is no doubt one of the best. You can just walk over for late night movies or massage. It’s the perfect location for people who do not plan to grab or just want to hang around Citysquare and the café areas such as Jalan Wong Ah Fook. Everything is in walking distance. H & I used to walk to cafes in Jalan Wong Ah Fook when our Malaysia Sim Card expires.

There are a couple of check-in counters and it was fuss free! We managed to get our keys and the staff was friendly. They even have free a check-in counter for kids. How cute?

We booked 2 superior twin room for 1 night. The room layout is pretty similar to Doubletree Hilton but slightly smaller. The bed is comfortable and the room is clean. Even though the hotel is only 2 years old, it isn’t in its best condition. You can see the wear and tear of the hotel. We were not too lucky with the views too. We got window views. Like literally windows and aircon ledge outside our window.

Facilities

Personally, I like the facilities the hotel provide. They have a movie room that screens movies all day long. Plus, they even have a free pool table for hotel guest to play. It’s a nice gesture that not many hotels provide. The gym is well equipped too. Unfortunately, the swimming pool is a disappointment. It’s small and very crowded on the weekend. There is no view and the view I got saw was the window from the building beside Amari.

In conclusion, I’ve stayed a couple of hotels in Johor Bahru and this is currently my least favourite. Considering 300 RM or SGD 100 per night without breakfast, the room does not live up to its hype and I doubt I will be back.
